Crafty Commissions

Journal Entry: Thu Jan 19, 2012, 6:55 AM

Hello and welcome to the doghouse!

CraftyMutt here, with a lifelong mission to knit, crochet, sew, make, paint, draw and generally craft anything and everything I possibly can! :D
Commissions are almost always open, check out my gallery (or any of the stuff linked below) if you're interested in what sort of things I do.
Occasionally I am very busy and have to turn down a commission if you need it very soon, I'm sorry if this happens to you but if you have the time to give me I should be able to complete any project for you!

I specialise in unusual knitted and crochet critters, particularly the cute and geeky. I'm pretty flexible and like to keep my prices very competitive because I want to be accessible to as many people as possible; if you'd like a guideline for a standard order between 4" - 12" in size I tend to charge between £5 and £25 relative to the magnitude and complexity of the order, but every order is so different and I'm happy to do quotes and give examples and images to help you figure out what you might buy and if you're happy before you commit to anything :)

Even if you decide you don't want to buy something you've asked about I will sometimes ask if you'd be happy for me to make your idea and put it on general sale ^_^ I can't pass up a great idea.

This place is for me to display all the items that I knit, crochet and craft for my fairly new shop, because I've decided I need a separate account for my every day messing around knitting stuff and my serious knitted orders and shop pieces :P

If you're wondering what's going on with my face in the photo I was dressed as a cyborg pirate as oppose to a regular pirate.

I love your scale gloves.

Could you make a tutorial on how to make them?

I have written up a free tutorial of the "scale stitch" used for these gloves, which shows how to add scales to basically any piece of knitting, and as much information as I can write down about how to choose where to put scales and stuff :D I'm considering making a tutorial to post here, with all pictures and diagrams and stuff, but I never got round to it yet ^^;
(there are patterns for sale on that link too, for if people want to directly make my designs, but the technique can add scales to any simple garter stitch pattern such as for an arm warmer fairly easily, my glove pattern is super basic just to help beginners really)

How do you make/where do you get the scales for your projects? I've looked at the tutorial, the knitting is straight forward now all I need is the scales
